Justice Ian Kawaley is a distinguished legal professional with over 40 years of experience in judicial and advisory roles across Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and the Caribbean. Currently serving as President of the Court of Appeal in Bermuda, he was a Judge of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands between 2018 and 2025. He is renowned for his expertise in cross-border insolvency, commercial and trust litigation, as well as constitutional law. Formerly Chief Justice of Bermuda, Justice Kawaley is also a respected legal scholar and active participant in international legal organisations.
