The judgment is useful for its examination of when it is appropriate to appoint an administrator immediately (as in Sberbank) and when it is more appropriate to appoint an administrator in principle pending confirmation of licences to enable effective action by the proposed administrator as an administrator of the company (as in VTB). Adam Al-Attar and Rabin Kok appeared for the company and its director on the administration application. Their thanks go out to Chris Parker, Natalie Peacock and James Davison of DLA Piper UK LLP for the instruction and their support on this interesting case.
