Felicity is a highly regarded barrister described by clients as “unquestionably the leading London silk in the field of corporate insolvency and restructuring, both domestic and cross-border”; “one of the most outstanding legal minds of her generation”; and “a distinguished and renowned intellect and practitioner in her professional field”.
Among other things, she has been recognised by The Lawyer for her sterling work on the litigation arising out of the NMC case, the United Arab Emirates’ largest private healthcare provider, which collapsed in the wake of a financial scandal in 2020. Felicity is dealing with the impact of the case in multiple jurisdictions, but primarily in litigation in the Abu Dhabi Global Markets court.
Another of the key cases that has earned Felicity her place on the shortlist is her representation of the Financial Conduct Authority before the Court of Appeal in relation to the effect of the electronic money regulations. This was the most crucial financial services and trust matter since the Lehman collapse and stands as further testimony to Felicity’s profound expertise in her field, gathered in the course of her 28-year career as a barrister.
Felicity has further been recognised for her work outside the courtroom, as she is also a dedicated mentor to the next generation of legal talent: for the past three years, she has been teaching the Corporate Insolvency course on the BCL at the University of Oxford, her alma mater, and this year has been invited to teach a one-off course on English insolvency law at Columbia Law School with Mr Justice Zacaroli.
Lastly, in addition to her many other commitments, Felicity is widely recognised in the world of publishing. She is in the process of launching the second edition of her book on International Asset Tracing in Insolvency, and has also been invited to become one of the general editors of Lightman & Moss on the Law of Administrators and Receivers.
Felicity is one of only eight barristers to make the shortlist. The winners will be announced at The Lawyer Awards on Tuesday 20 June 2023, which will be held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.
We warmly congratulate Felicity on this much-deserved shortlisting, and wish her and the other shortlisted candidates the very best of luck on the night.
